Antigua

Photos

Our Evening out at Sheer Rocks, Coco Bay Hotel Antigua. Close enough to Valentines day to make the excuse for a very posh and expensive meal.

Our boat is anchored on the other side of the bay. You can just make out the masts.

View from our table that was suspended above the beach below.

Russ enjoying a Mojito and me a Rum Punch. Tasted even better when they forgot to charge us for them!

A rare photo of us together.

The best chocolate soufle.

The Beach at Jolly Harbour Antigua. The boys enjoyed surfing in the unusual swells.

Russell couldn't resist... but will he ever manage to get up?

The boys rescued an inflatable seal and that meant we had to inflate Jake the Dolphin. We were surprised it still held air as Ethan had bought it on the trip back from scotland and it had spent time stuffed in an aft locker. They towed them to the beach and had great fun. They are safely back in the locker now.

We now have 2 canoe paddles to stop the arguments and at least they both have a weapon to hit eachother with now.

Leaving Jolly Harbour a view of the 5 sisters islands on the way out. On our way to English Harbour.

English Harbour. Very famous for Nelson having naval ships and a dockyard, Shirley Heights Sunday Parties and lots of Superyachts.

The entrance. Notice in the second picture the yacht masts are highr than the cliffs.

Some Superyachts. There were more in Falmouth Harbour just a short walk along the road.

Ethan and Oli enjoyed the museum. Guess what was their favourite bit.

Think i am glad we sailed rather than rowed accross. I guess the owners have decided it is a oneway trip.

Our early morning walk to Shirley Heights Fort. We set off at 8am to avoid the heat and took bacon and egg sandwiches with us for the top. we arrived at 9am and hoped to get coffee from the open bar. No luck but we could have had rum. We settled for water.

This is the start hut for the carribbean 600 race that had taken place a few days before.

The path was a rockery.

This doesn't really show how steep it really was.

A long way down.

Ethan looking out with English Harbour in front and Falmouth behind. Most of the yachts had red aircraft warning lights on the mast which lit up the sky at night like a christmas tree.

Breakfast.

One of the original naval buildings now a bar.

Our boat is facing sideways close to the beach.

Looking back up to Shirley Heights from the beach.

One of the remaining anchors which the ships in the olden days used to haul themselves into the harbour with as they didn't have engines.

We then left for Mamora Bay which as a hotel called the St James Club. We stayed a couple of days and were allowed to use the facilities if we paid a docking fee. The boys made full use of the Hobie cats.

Deep Bay and the boys enjoy windsurfing.

Ethan was taking pictures and this was quite a nice one of me.

We enjoyed building sand castles.
